Come learn how to get your vegetable garden off to a great start this season.

Growing Plants

Brittany has been a volunteer with the Master Gardeners Association of Cape Cod since 2022. She is primarily involved in overseeing the demonstration garden at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds as well as organizing and presenting propagation workshops for the community. She has a certificate in sustainable food and farming and is currently pursuing a degree in horticulture from UMass Amherst. She has a large vegetable garden at her home in Bourne and loves to propagate all sorts of vegetables and native plants from seed. When she’s not gardening, Brittany enjoys cooking, hiking, and photographing the insects and wildlife that visit her garden.

image.jpeg

Each person will make a 'greens' item of their choice. It can be a mug filled with greens and decorations, a wreath, a centerpiece -- whatever you like.

We will also create a dozen or so ‘mug arrangements’ for the residents of Cape Winds Rest Home; it’s become an annual tradition for the club.

What to bring:

  • Any kind of greens, dried flowers, twigs, branches that you want in your piece.  Bring as much as you can get.  (You can just buy a garland of greens and break it up.)

  • Decorations if you have them.

  • Vase, bowl, mug, or whatever you want to make yours in.  Be creative!

  • Dry oasis if you need it (we'll have wet oasis for fresh arrangements).

  • Pruners, wire cutters (if you have them), and gloves.

The Club will provide scissors, sharp knives, floral wire, glue guns & sticks, wire cutters, wire forms for wreaths, wet oasis, pine cones, miscellaneous decorations, ribbons, glitter glue.

ALSO - IT'S THE LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP FOR THE CHRISTMAS PARTY! If you haven't yet signed up or paid for the party on December 12, bring $25 cash or check to this meeting. Also, immediately following this worshop, we need a few people to help decorate for the Christmas party. Speak to Jeanne Nichols for details.

Feel free to arrive at the workshop as early as 1pm to drop off your greens, etc. but please give us a chance to get everything organized and set up before diving into your own project - the meeting actually begins at 1:30.
